Day Trippin’ – Part One

on August 24, 2012

Having survived the renovations thus far, we decided to take the day off and do some day trippin’! Today’s drive took us down Digby Neck, a small peninsula between St. Mary’s Bay and the Bay of Fundy.

First stop of the day is Sandy Cove, a sandy beach making headlines earlier this year as the Province of Nova Scotia refused to dispose of a rotting whale corpse. Sandy Cove is located on the Bay of Fundy side.

We gather the corpse was eventually disposed of as we saw no reminders or remains of said whale.

Fishing is the main industry here with its port open to many types of fishing vessels, such as fish, scallop draggers and lobster boats. Sandy Cove has many odd characters (as we can attest to) and tales, including the story of Jerome, The Mystery Man of Digby County.

You can read more about Jerome at http://www.digbyneckinstories.com/STORIES/JEROME.HTM

Stayed tuned for more day trippin’ adventures!
