First test!

on November 20, 2012

Today brought a little excitement to over 900 Digby residents……the power went out at around 8:30 this morning. This was our first real test to see if we are ready for any outages during the winter.

It all started with breakfast………….coffee, bacon and eggs on the barbeque

By noon the house was getting a little chilly as evidenced by our trusty temperature and humidity meter

So it was time to fire up the generator………..I’ve never seen Randy so happy to wheel out his “big” toy!

With a few extension cords…….

we were able to get the fridge plugged in

and then we headed to the semi dark basement to see about the pellet stove

Here’s the thing about our pellet stove. When the power goes out, the stove has to cool down before it will re-start. This took a little time but voila!

Hurray…………we have heat! But wouldn’t you know it, a minute later the power comes back on and spoils our fun.

It was a good test and we believe we passed with flying colours! Bring on old man winter!

A lot of things I could say but won’t. I wonder how long the power was actually out.
